There are thousands of scams and rip-offs on the Internet. I receive several emails per day selling all sorts of pills, ‘investment opportunities’ and other “too good to be true” offers. This site is not one of them.
When we were raising money for my fiance, Su, I tried to be as open as I possibly could. This was never a faceless anonymous site. I filled it with photos of us, our contact details etc. While I carefully trod the fine-line between honesty and privacy, any individual who wished to make a donation but has any doubts were welcome to contact me. I was able to offer many forms of proof; documents from doctors, medical invoices, details of our medical consultants and our employment details.
Our cause was verified by many different site administrators. In many cases they contacted our oncologist directly (with our express permission) and spoke to our school too.
This site has the Eater seal of approval! It is not a scam!
www.419eater.com is primarily a site dealing with waging war on advance fee fraud (or 419, so called after the Nigerian penal code section which prohibits this type of scam).
Eater has a committed cadre of people working hard at taking down the fake bank sites set up by 419 scammers to try to extract money from their victims. However, the site also has an active section for other types of scams and fake sites, such as fake lawyer sites, money launderers, and fake charity scams.
Dave approached us after the first wave of attacks on his integrity, because of his concerns that our attack dogs might get turned on him. It was understandable, but he had no reason to worry - Eater checks very carefully before trying to get fake sites taken down, and we have verified the information Dave gave us. We are satisfied that his is a legitimate site and a genuinely good cause, which we support whole-heartedly. We have posted to that effect on 419Eater.com and are delighted to have Dave post this on his site to show our support.
We send Dave, Su and their families our best wishes for their appeal, and for the success of the treatment for which the generosity of so many is helping to pay.
